The Brooklyn Museum will host artist María Magdalena Campos-Pons on Sunday to discuss her current exhibition.

The event titled “Artist Talk: María Magdalena Campos-Pons,” will feature a discussion with the Cuban artist, taking attendees on a journey throughout her life as both an activist and an artist.

During the talk, scheduled between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., Campos-Pons will also share details her latest art exhibition, Behold, which has been on display at the Brooklyn Museum since September.

Behold — which is Campos-Pons’ first multimedia art installation since 2007 — showcases nearly four decades of the artist’s works of art, which invoke themes such as migration, diaspora, and memory through photography, paintings, and performance.

Campos-Pons said that she drew inspiration from her own family story, which she used to explore enslavement, indentured labor and motherhood.

Tickets for the upcoming artist discussion are $20 each ($8 for Brooklyn Museum members), and will also include admission to the exhibit.
