In commemoration of Independent Bookstore Day, the Brooklyn Bookstore Crawl event will be making its grand return during the week of April 22-29, 2023.

Now in its ninth year, the annual event encourages Brooklyn readers to check out independent book establishments that are located throughout the borough by offering discounts and prize opportunities.

Over the course of the week-long crawl, Brooklyn residents are able to pop into any of this year's participating stores to pick up a bookstore crawl passport. Upon receiving their passport, Brooklynites will earn stamps each time they visit a new store.

After visiting five or more establishments, readers will then receive a 25% off coupon, which can be used at any of the bookstores on the crawl.

This year, the event features the largest amount of Brooklyn-based bookstores in the history of the crawl, with 25 independent shops in total taking part.

Among the stores participating in this year's event include Archestratus, Books Are Magic, Greenlight Bookstore, McNally Jackson, Quimbys, Terrace Books, The Word Is Change, and many more.

On the final day of the crawl — which fittingly takes place on Independent Bookstore Day — there will be a Brooklyn Bookstore Crawl after party, to which all local literature lovers are invited.

The after party, which is set to occur at The Center for Fiction bookstore, will have a series of prize drawings for all Brooklyn residents in-attendance that were able to accumulate five or more stamps during the crawl's duration.
