Although the Bed Stuy Art Walk officially kicks off in August, some local galleries couldn't wait to open their doors to the public.

On Saturday, July 1, galleries like Sanctuary Spaces held an informal art walk, allowing people to tour the space for free.

"I am proud that Sanctuary Spaces participates in the Bed Stuy Art Walk because it provides a vessel for artists and culture on this side of Bed Stuy," said Sanctuary Spaces curator Deborah Robinson.

Sanctuary Spaces, in particular, featured exhibits by Shavon Wilkins, Amit Sahu and Velda Simone, and live music from Born to Cry, a Brooklyn blues rock band.
