Bed-Stuy, get your best cosplay costumes from out of the closet — an anime fair is coming to you this weekend.
On Saturday, Bed-Stuy Gateway Business Improvement District (Bed-Stuy BID) is holding ANIME-zing, a festive cosmic celebration honoring the world of anime.
Between 4:00pm and 10:00pm, Restoration Plaza will be host a game truck, marketplace, tables for comic collectors, illustrators, artists, and plenty of space for "cosplayers to embrace their inner geekdom and showcase their creative costumes."
In a statement, the BID said there would be a variety of guest speakers and entertainment including live DJs and cultural performances.
To create foot traffic for merchants, fairgoers will be able to take part in a geocaching expedition: a hybrid scavenger hunt throughout the BID's business corridors where prizes and discounts will be up for grabs.
The night will end with a cosplay contest and special anime movie screening.
The fair will also provide onsite vaccination and testing, BID Interim Executive Director Lynette Battle said.
"COVID delivered a devastating blow to our small business community. The BID remains vigilant in seeking holistic solutions that comprises both our businesses and the overall community."
