A shooting in a popular Brooklyn shopping area injured a bystander on Monday.
Police officers responded to a 911 call at about 2:05pm and found a female shot in front of 445 Albee Square, according to a spokesperson for the New York City Police Department.
Upon arrival, officers observed a 30-year-old female, conscious and alert with a gunshot wound to the lower leg. EMS transported the female aided to New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in stable condition, the spokesperson said.
City Council Member Lincoln Restler said he is pushing for steady police presence in the area.
"Scary incident in Downtown Brooklyn this afternoon. Young adults had a fight & there were gunshots. A bystander on Albee Sq West was shot, but fortunately she did not suffer life threatening injuries," he said on X.
There are no arrests at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
