MTA Bridges and Tunnels on Friday warned drivers that one of the two tubes of the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel will be closed for the next three weekends due to milling and repaving work.

The closures will take place during the weekends of July 24, July 31 and Aug. 7, from Friday at 11:00pm through Monday at 5:00am.

During these periods, the tunnel, which connects Brooklyn and Manhattan, will remain open at all times, with two-way traffic operating in the alternate tube. Motorists should plan additional travel time or consider an alternate route, MTA said.

The repaving work means drivers will benefit from a smoother and improved driving surface and clear newly striped lane marking lines, the MTA said.
