The MTA announced four additional bus routes will receive Automated Camera Enforcement on Aug. 13. Routes include B8 and B9 in Brooklyn, Bx21 in the Bronx and Q101 in Queens.
Upgrades to B8 will affect riders from Dyker Heights across to East Flatbush. B9’s upgrades will affect riders from Bay Ridge across to Kings Plaza.
The technology captures violations across multiple buses. It then transmits the license plate information, location and time stamp to NYCDOT for review and processing.
ACE technology is outlined as a priority in the Next Stop: Fast Buses, Better Service plan, reported to have increased bus speeds by as much as 30 %, while reducing collisions by 20 %.
The plan outlines a goal for the NYC Department of Transportation and the MTA to add ACE technology to 25 total routes in both 2026 and 2027. The four announced routes on Thursday bring the total of ACE additions in 2026 to 18. There are now 71 routes total across the city equipped with the technology since its initial launch in June of 2024.
On Monday, Aug. 17, a 60-day warning period will begin for the four buses, according to a press release from the MTA.
