Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and Arts Ambassador Colm Dillane opened submissions for the 2026 Brooklyn Pin design competition. Brooklyn residents and K-12 students have until Sept. 30, 2025, at 11:59pm to submit original designs that celebrate the borough’s creativity and culture.

The winning pin will be unveiled at Reynoso’s 2026 State of the Borough address, where attendees will receive the limited-edition collectible.

The Brooklyn Pin tradition began under former Borough President Marty Markowitz, who distributed thousands of gold script pins inspired by the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team. In 2025, Dillane, serving as Brooklyn’s first Arts Ambassador, debuted a redesigned pin using a bubble-letter font he created as a student at Brooklyn Tech.

“The Brooklyn pin is the people’s pin, and I am so excited for its redesign to be in the hands of creative Brooklynites,” said Reynoso.

The 2026 competition is open to Brooklyn residents of all ages and students enrolled in local K-12 schools. Designs must include legible text referencing Brooklyn, nicknames and stylized versions such as BK, BKLYN, or Brooooooklyn are welcome. Submissions should be creative, original and free from offensive language or imagery.

"Brooklyn is home to so many incredible artists, and I hope this initiative builds a legacy that continues for many, many years to come,” said Dillane of KidSuper.

Pins will be produced at a maximum width of 1.49 inches, and winning designs may be adjusted for production.
