Senator Iwen Chu Kicks Off Re-Election Campaign In Sunset Park

Volunteers from across Brooklyn turned out to petition for re-election campaign.

State Senator Iwen Chu began her re-election campaign as she and eighty volunteers from across Brooklyn took part in a Petitioning Day of Action, canvassing the community in support of the Senator’s re-election bid.

“When voters elected me in 2022 to represent them in the State Senate, they did so with the faith that I would elevate their most pressing issues and deliver real results–both in the district, and in state government. And that’s what we did," Senator Chu said. "I am proud of the work we accomplished together in my first term, from fully funding public education, to cracking down on gun violence and hate crimes, to now sponsoring a critical e-bike safety package and standing up for victims of bullying."

Senator Chu was the first Asian American woman elected to the state Senate, representing Brooklyn’s first Asian American Pacific Islander-majority district. In her first term, she secured funding for parks, libraries, programs for seniors, and police, as well as a record $30 million for Asian American Pacific Islander communities.
