New York City Public Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels on Thursday announced dates for Our Schools. Our Future: Conversations With The Chancellor, a five-borough community engagement series.
The goal is for city education leaders to engage with students, families, educators, staff, and community partners on critical school issues, and to hear ideas families about how to better involve them in decision making processes. In these conversations, Samuels will reflect on what safety, academic rigor, and true integration look like in practice.
“These conversations are about fundamentally changing how we make decisions by ensuring that those closest to our students have a real seat at the table,” Samuels said in a statement. “When families are true partners in the process, our schools become stronger, our policies become more effective, and our commitment to every child becomes meaningful."
