Spanish-speaking New Yorkers will have easier access to city services, alerts and public information after the city on Tuesday launched El Chisme Oficial de NYC, a Spanish-language WhatsApp channel and a relaunched Spanish-language Instagram account.

The WhatsApp channel will deliver city news, service updates, community resources, immigration information, public transit alerts and announcements about programs and events.

Subscribers will also receive exclusive photos and videos from community events across the five boroughs, behind-the-scenes content from City Hall and occasional voice messages from the mayor and other city leaders.

"Every New Yorker deserves to know what their city is doing for them in the language they speak at home," Mayor Zohran Mamdani said in a statement. "Spanish-speaking New Yorkers are on WhatsApp and Instagram every day, so that is where City Hall should be, too. You should not have to chase down a dozen agencies to find the information you need."

The revamped Instagram account will provide updates on city services, policy announcements, public safety information, livestreams and plain-language explainers, all in Spanish.

New Yorkers can subscribe to El Chisme Oficial de NYC through the city's WhatsApp channel and follow City Hall's Spanish-language Instagram account to receive ongoing updates about city programs, services, events and public information in Spanish.
