On Saturday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul delivered remarks at the Temple Israel Albany to update New Yorkers on the steps New York has taken to support Israel.

Governor Hochul noted, as the Governor of the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, New York feels uniquely impacted.

Governor Hochul made contact with Israel's Consul General early Saturday morning to offer assistance from New York. She said the New York government is actively working with the U.S. Embassy to help identify people and bring any New Yorkers in Israel home safely.

New York state police have also been activated, to protect not just synagogues and yeshivas but also cultural institutions and museums across New York that have been deemed vulnerable sites.

“I want to leave you with this one thought. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing. We are a good people and we'll never be accused of doing nothing. We stand in solidarity with Israel," said Hochul. "We show our support in countless ways, and you'll see if you look over to the Capitol, the buildings will be lit up in blue and white.”
