The Executive Committee of the Kings County Democratic County Committee, along with Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, on Monday welcomed Michelle Tégé and Samia Aljahmi as new District Leaders in Brooklyn.
Both appointments were made during a special meeting held on Jan. 4 to fill vacancies created by the resignations of Jahmila Edwards in AD43 and Widad Hassan in AD64, officials said.
Michelle Tégé will serve as District Leader for the 43rd Assembly District, which includes Crown Heights, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, and portions of Flatbush and East Flatbush. She currently serves as a Judicial Convention delegate for the district and is a member of the Kings County Democratic Committee.
Tégé is a veteran of law enforcement with decades of experience. She currently works in the NYPD’s Candidate Assessment Division, where she mentors prospective officers and conducts background investigations. She also serves as a National Associate Members Representative for the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.
Samia Aljahmi will serve as District Leader for the 64th Assembly District, representing part of Bay Ridge in Brooklyn and the eastern shore of Staten Island, including Grasmere, New Dorp, Oakwood, Old Town, Dongan Hills and South Beach.
A longtime community organizer, Aljahmi currently works as a case worker coach at the Bay Ridge Community Development Center. Her political experience includes voter outreach efforts and supporting candidates within Arab and Muslim communities. She previously served as Director of Constituent Services for former State Senator Iwen Chu.
