A 40-year-old woman was fatally struck by tractor trailer on Monday in East New York, reported Brooklyn Paper.

She was panhandling across Linden Boulevard at Fountain Ave around 11:00am, when she was struck by the tractor. She died instantly, said law enforcement. The driver was questioned and was checked for intoxication. No charges were filed.

The victim was a known to ask for cash along the boulevard every morning. Locals said they've seen her at the intersection for about two to three years. Some warned her of the danger of intersection.

"We would tell her all the time, you gotta get out of the street. Someone will run you over," said Perry Daniels, a local resident.

NY Daily News reports that neighbors believed that the woman was mentally-ill and squatted at a nearby house. She would scream and curse at divers if she didn't receive anything.

The incident is currently being investigated by the police from the Highway Crash Investigation Squad.
