The city wants to build Brooklyn's second-tallest building on land it owns on the border of Downtown Brooklyn and Fort Greene, according to New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
During The Real Deal NYC Forum on Wednesday, the mayor said he wants to turn the outdated building currently at 395 Flatbush Avenue Ext. into a residential tower.
"We're going to build 1,200 new units of high-density mixed-use housing," Adams said. "All on top of one of the biggest transit hubs in the city. The new 395 Flatbush will be a major addition to the skyline, towering high as the second tallest building in Brooklyn."

He envisions a young couple giving birth to a child at nearby Brooklyn Hospital Center, hanging out in Fort Greene Park, and taking the Q train to work.
"This is what you call building neighborhoods all together in a comprehensive way," he said. "It's a home for New Yorkers."
