The New York City Department of Transportation is planning ADA-compliant improvements along Eastern Parkway between Schenectady and Ralph Avenues in Crown Heights.

The upgrades include redesigned B14 bus stops at Utica and Buffalo Avenues, new pedestrian ramps and smoother paving with granite and hex blocks to improve access for all, according to YIMBY.

As part of the project, existing informal B14 bus stops will be relocated to the southern pedestrian malls. The stop at Rochester Avenue will be removed while new accessible stops will be added at Utica and Buffalo.

To make room for passenger loading, one young tree will be moved and small grassy areas will be replaced with granite pavers. New ADA ramps will connect the northern malls at key intersections, the website said.

The proposal keeps current turn bays in place and preserves most green space, with the southern malls maintaining about 37% planting coverage. Minor layout changes will take place east of Buffalo Avenue, according to YIMBY.
