A police officer that worked in a Brooklyn police precinct died on Friday as a result of a medical episode while deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Epic Fury, according to the New York City Police Department.
Sorffly Davius, who had worked out of the 79th Precinct since 2014, served in the 42nd Infantry Division in the U.S. Army National Guard and rose to the rank of Major, the NYPD said on X.
“Today, our city mourns the loss of Police Officer Sorffly Davius, who passed away on Friday following a medical episode while deployed to Kuwait with the 42nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army National Guard," Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani and Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch said in a joint statement. "His career was defined by service — to his country and to New York City. Our thoughts are with Officer Davius and his entire family as they mourn his loss. May his memory be a blessing.”
