Several members of the Brooklyn-based street gang Real Ryte have admitted guilt to multiple crimes this week, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Breon Peace announced.

28-year-old Dajahn “Jeezy Mula” McBean (Real Ryte leader), 30-year-old Semaj “Bam Bam” Smith, and Mark “Telly” Waiters all pleaded guilty to numerous racketeering charges in connection with a gang war with the “Breadgang,” a Brooklyn-based subset of the Bloods.

According to court filings, the convictions stem from a string of incidents that took place between 2015 and 2018.

During that time period, Real Ryte members reportedly committed several serious crimes, including murder, assault, bank and wire fraud, among others.

According to United States Attorney Peace, the Real Ryte gang engaged in acts of violence with the Breadgang (their rivals), which led to the murder of Sean Peart, another Real Ryte member.

Following Peart’s death, McBean, Semaj, Waiters and other Real Ryte members reportedly sought retaliation against the Breadgang.

On Jan. 3, 2017, upon learning that a Breadgang member was in lower Manhattan, the three convicted gang members decided to travel to the location with the intent of shooting and killing the rival gang associate.

According to information fleshed out in court, instead of tracking down their intended target, the trio of Real Ryte members mistakenly shot an innocent person, seriously injuring the victim in the process before fleeing the scene,

When sentenced, Smith and Waiters each face up to life in prison, while McBean could spend upwards of 20 years in a jail cell.

“The defendants admitted that Real Ryte carried out violent crimes and committed acts of fraud, leaving some victims destitute and others shot.” said United States Attorney Peace. “These types of organized criminal groups inflict grievous harm on their communities and will not be tolerated.”
