New York State Assemblyman William Colton (47th District, which serves the neighborhoods of Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, and Dyker Heights) has formally named Dr. Larry He as his new co-chief of staff.

Dr. He, a Brooklyn-based community activist, joins the assemblyman’s office after previously interning for him back in 2006.

“I’m delighted to be working for Assemblyman Colton again,” said Dr. He. “I look forward to serving the constituents in any way I can, and making the district an even better place to live, work and raise a family.”

He, who has a Ph.D. in Ecological Economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, comes into the new role with a wealth of experience, having previously worked in senior analyst roles for the New York Independent System Operator and the California Independent System Operator — both of which are nonprofits that manage electric power systems and electricity markets.

Along with his career history, Dr. He has also been extensively active in the community service realm, having served as a board member for United Chinese Americans (UCA), board chair and president of the Chinese Community Center of the Capital Region of New York, executive director of the Global Asian Carp Coalition, student senator at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and more.

Assemblyman Colton says that Dr. He and his vast experience will be a valuable addition to his team going forward.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Larry He back into my office, this time as co-chief of staff,” said Assemblyman Colton. “His expertise on a wide range of issues will be invaluable going forward, and I know my constituents will appreciate his breadth of knowledge and his deep commitment to assisting them.”
