The School at the Mark Morris Dance Center is partnering with the Brooklyn Music School (BMS) to offer The Music and Dance Experience, an interdisciplinary camp for children ages 5 to 12 during the New York public school 2024 mid-winter and spring breaks.

Children will have the opportunity to spend the midwinter break from February 19-23 or the Spring break from April 22-26 dancing, making music, creating, and performing. The camps will combine the study of different music and theater disciplines as well as a variety of dance forms. Classes include hip-hop, modern, ballet, choir, musical theater and songwriting, all delivered by world-class faculty members of each partner organization. The midwinter camp will be focused on one of Mark Morris’s critically acclaimed choreography, The Look of Love, approached from multiple lenses.

“We’re thrilled to be combining the creative expertise of both of our schools to host programs that are greater together,” said Alexandra Cook, Youth and Family Programs Director at The School at the Mark Morris Dance Center. “As neighbors and cultural partners in Downtown Brooklyn, it seems only natural that children in our community wouldn’t have to choose between the two institutions – they can access it all in one experience!”

No prior experience is required, and children do not have to be current students at Brooklyn Music School or The School at the Mark Morris Dance Center to attend the camps.
