Fort Greene Educator Selected For Scholastic Teacher's Cohort

Melanie Okadigwe, PreK-6 learning and library specialist at Greene Hill School was selected among 12 educators to join the second annual Teacher Fellows Cohort. 

Melanie Okadigwe, a PreK-6 learning and library specialist at Greene Hill School in Fort Greene was selected to join Scholastic's Teacher Fellows Cohort. 

The program equips educators with resources and tools needed to improve their work while allowing them to develop lifelong connections with fellow professionals, according to a press release. 

After assessing her overall teaching experience and classroom practices, the judges gave Okadigwe the nod. She will complete a capstone project, which she will showcase at a summit at Scholastic's New York City headquarters in the summer. She will also receive a stipend of $2,000 and at least $500 in Scholastic products. 

Tara Welty, senior cice president and general manager of Scholastic Teaching Solutions said: "Our first class of Teacher Fellows tested lessons in their classrooms, surveyed their colleagues and students, shared pain points and successes, and worked side-by-side with our staff to design resources that would truly meet their needs in the classroom."
