Please be advised that as part of Mayor De Blasio's Vision Zero program, the NYPD and Department of Transportation have launched a major three-week initiative in advance of the 25 mph traffic changes due to go into effect later this summer.
The planned initiative will take place along Eastern Parkway in the confines of the 71st and77th Precincts, where traffic and speeding will be monitored by NYPD to insure motorists are driving within the prescribed 25 mph limit.
This initiative began on Monday June 23, 2014 and will last through July 13, 2014. As part of this initiative NYPD units will visit schools, churches and senior centers throughout the precincts, as well as commence an aggressive flyer campaign at the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue.
Speed signs will be present along Eastern Parkway to advise drivers of their speed in relation to the new New York City slow zone along Eastern Parkway which is now 25 mph.
