More than 200 community members came together on Friday for the 5th Annual Educational Leadership Award Breakfast.

Hosted by State Senator Kevin Parker, the event is a way to honor local leaders in education that have worked in the 21st Senate District and the larger Brooklyn community.

"Every day, parents of schoolchildren, principals, teachers, and other academic professionals go above and beyond the call to ensure our children receive the best education possible," said New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer. "These individuals deserve to be celebrated every day of the year."

Over 100 legislative resolutions were issued at the event to "educators" ranging from principals, parent coordinators, guidance counselors, school nurses, to school safety agents and custodial engineers, whose obligation and care for students provides parents and families with a powerful voice on behalf of every child.
