Healthfirst's annual Health & Wellness Expo returns to Brownsville with free health screenings and wellness services to increase awareness around pressing health matters affecting the local community.

Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke, Assemblywoman Latrice Walker and Councilwomen Alicka Ampry-Samuel, joined by leading health experts, will moderate a free health panel breakfast and town hall meeting hosted by Healthfirst on Saturday, June 16 12, from 9:00am-11:00am at the Van Dyke Community Center, followed by the all-day Health & Wellness Expo at the Dr. Green Playground in Brownsville.

The popular event is expected to attract more than 2,500 attendees and generate heightened awareness around pressing health matters affecting the local community.

"Healthfirst is proud to partner with our sponsors and local leaders to heighten awareness around health matters impacting our communities that are preventable through access to care and proper support," said George Hulse, Healthfirst's vice president of Community Engagement. "The Health & Wellness Expo provides a unique experience by promoting clinical wellness in an open and engaging environment. We aim to build a fully integrated expo series focused on sharing critical resources, educating the community and providing proactive steps towards leading a healthy lifestyle."

The breakfast will bring together the community to share healthy tips, inspire and connect with each other and will also serve as the kickoff for the Healthfirst Health & Wellness Expo— a free health fair open to the public from 11:00am - 6:00pm.

The health expo will address diabetes and mental health awareness with prominent medical experts on hand to provide the latest findings, answer questions and conduct free health screenings. Also on-hand at the expo will be complimentary wellness services including massage therapists, manicures/pedicures, prizes and giveaways, fresh smoothie samples, cooking demonstrations and fitness workshops. Entertainment for the younger expo-goers will be provided in the kid's zone which will include face painting, balloon artists, games and other fun activities. Rhythm & Blues quartets Tru Sol and Legacy will entertain the crowd with vibrant live performances.

This family-friendly event is free and will take place rain or shine!
