From September 1-30, bike enthusiasts are invited to take a self-guided tour of Brooklyn's waterfront through the 2020 Brooklyn Greenway Ride presented by Citi Bike.

The bike tour recently received sponsorship from energy retailer Kiwi Energy, Street Insider reports.

Participants will be supporting the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative to extend the route to 26-miles, from Greenpoint to East New York. The path could be completed in a trip or several days, depending on your pace. So far 18 miles are open to the public according to their website.

"The work done by Brooklyn Greenway Initiative is beneficial for both the environment and the community and is one of the many reasons we continue to collaborate with this valuable organization," said Nichola Clark, vice president and creative director at Kiwi Energy.

"Most of us have been cooped up in our apartments while working from home throughout the pandemic, so the 2020 Brooklyn Greenway Ride is a great way to safely spend some time outside exploring our city. More importantly than that, it's the ideal way to show our support to an important cause."

Along the route, participants will be connected with neighborhood parks, iconic bridges, beaches, views of the Manhattan skyline, piers and open spaces.
