Agency Mission

The 59 community boards are independent City agencies that advise on land use, the City budget, municipal service delivery and other matters on a geographically exclusive basis. Brooklyn Community Board 2 serves Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights, the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Clinton Hill, the downtown civic center, DUMBO, Fort Greene, Fulton Ferry Landing, Vinegar Hill and Wallabout.

Job Description

The selected candidate will have, under supervision of the district manager with latitude for independent decision and action, two principal responsibilities. The first is to serve as the district office's liaison to the community board's Economic Development and Employment, Transportation and Public Safety, and Youth, Education and Cultural Affairs committees. The second is to perform administrative and clerical duties based on agency need, including but not limited to the procurement process. There will be other duties and responsibilities as assigned, some of which will require work outside of the district office.

Qualification Requirements

1. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or a four-year high school diploma (or its equivalent) and three years relevant work experience.
2. Strong and personable written and oral communication skills.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability to learn other computer applications.
4. Ability to work a minimum of three evenings per month.
5. New York City residency within 90 days of appointment.

OMB and Probationary Review

Appointment to this position is subject to approval by the Mayor's Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The selected candidate will be hired subject to a twelve-month probationary period.
