The founders of indie label Mexican Summer have partnered with the team behind Brooklyn record shop Co-Op 87 to launch their newest retail endeavor, the Brooklyn Record Exchange in Bushwick, reports Billboard.

The new record store will open with a soft launch on Thursday, before its grand opening this Saturday. Brooklyn Record Exchange is located at 599 Johnson Avenue, inside the same complex where arts and live performance venue Elsewhere has been attracting diverse crowds of music and culture lovers.

The shop will primarily offer used records, covering an eclectic array of genres including rock, jazz, soul and hip-hop, dance and electronic music. The diversity matches Mexican Summer, a label that has gained great notoriety for its repertoire of progressive music across genres, featuring artists like Weyes Blood, Oneohtrix Point Never and Jessica Pratt.

In addition, Brooklyn Record Exchange will also carry movies and books from Mexican Summer's publishing company Anthology Editions. And, while there will be some records available for sale online, the store's mission is to provide a warm, welcoming environment to promote the physical experience of digging through the crates and being enveloped in the music.

As for the already existing Co-Op 87 record store in Greenpoint, the plan is to rebrand the location as a second Brooklyn Record Exchange, the team announced.

Brooklyn Record Exchange will be open Sunday through Thursday, from 12:00pm to 8:00pm, and Friday and Saturday, from 12:00pm to 9:00pm.
