Several local organizations are holding free turkey giveaways over the next week to make sure everyone can have a traditional meal this Thanksgiving.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it's time to start pulling out those winter recipes and getting ready for a day of gravy and tight waist belts.

There are lots of reasons to be thankful this season — like the fact that there are several places to get a free turkey in Brooklyn with a heaping side of community spirit!

Here are 10 giveaways happening across Brooklyn this weekend to ensure your holiday feast is as budget-friendly as it is delicious.

Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn Turkey Giveaway

WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 16, 4:00pm-7:00pm

WHERE: 2200 Tilden Ave., Brooklyn, NY

Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, who represents the 42nd Assembly District in Brooklyn, covering Ditmas Park, Flatbush, East Flatbush and Midwood, is giving out free turkeys in the former Sears parking lot between Bedford and Flatbush avenues.

Councilmember Crystal Hudson's Turkey Giveaway

WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 18, 11:00am-2:00pm

WHERE: Prospect Heights Educational Campus, 883 Classon Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11225

This is Councilmember Crystal Hudson's second Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway and Resource Fair at the Prospect Heights Educational Campus. Hudson, who represents Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, and parts of Crown Heights and Bedford-Stuyvesant, is giving away more than 1,000 turkeys, boxes of fix-ins, and bundles of fresh produce. Oh, and there's going to be live music, too.

State Sen. Kevin Parker's Community Turkey Giveaway

WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 18, 12:00pm-3:00pm

WHERE: Vanderveer Park United Methodist Church, 3114 Glenwood Rd., Brooklyn, NY 11210

In partnership with Vanderveer Park United Methodist Church and National Grid, State Sen. Kevin Parker, who represents Flatbush, Flatlands, Bergen Beach and Georgetown in the New York State Senate, will provide free turkeys to community members in need ahead of Thanksgiving.

Goke Food Pantry at the Christ Apostolic Church

WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 18, 10:00am-until supplies run out

WHERE: 622 Cortelyou Rd., Brooklyn, NY

Goke Food Pantry aims to give away 1,000 free turkeys this year during its Turkey Drive. Turkeys will be distributed on Saturday, Nov. 18, starting at 10:00am on a first-come, first-served basis.

Community United: Free Turkey Drive with Assemblymember Nikki Lucas

WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 18, 11:00am-2:00pm

Assemblymember Nikki Lucas, who represents East New York and Starrett City in the New York Assembly, is giving away turkeys in her district this Saturday — don't miss out!

Brooklyn Bank Turkey Giveaway

WHEN: Nov. 19, 10:00am-until supplies run out

WHERE: 896 Dekalb Ave., Brooklyn, NY

Brooklyn Bank is a financial literacy hub in Bed-Stuy focused on serving Brooklyn's communities of color. On Nov. 19, they will give away turkeys to all on a first-come, first-serve basis. In order to secure your turkey, RSVP here.

Annual Free Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway from the Real Word Ministry

WHEN: Sunday, Nov. 19, 2:00pm-5:00pm

WHERE: Brooklyn Junction, 2201 Nostrand Ave., Brooklyn, NY

Come join The Real Word Ministry for its Annual Free Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway on Nostrand Avenue. The ministry believes in the importance of coming together and giving thanks, especially during the holiday season. They aim to give out more than 200 turkeys, which will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

NYPD Turkey Giveaway

WHEN: Sunday, Nov. 19, 2:00pm-4:00pm

WHERE: 179 Wilson Ave., Brooklyn, NY 

The New York City Police Department is giving away free turkeys this Sunday, Nov. 19, to get everyone in the holiday spirit in North Brooklyn. Make sure to call the numbers on the flyer to register for a turkey now, since it's on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Supermarket Giftcard Giveaway

WHEN: Monday, Nov. 20, 5:00pm-until supplies run out

WHERE: Ninth Tabernacle Beth El, 85 Fountain Ave., Brooklyn, NY

The Fountain Avenue Community Development Corporation is a nonprofit organization that provides social services to underserved communities in New York City, especially in East New York. Due to increased food prices, the organization is providing supermarket gift cards worth $25.00 each to 100 families on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Brooklyn Paints Thanksgiving Foods Giveaway

WHEN: Wednesday, Nov. 22, 1:00pm-4:00pm

WHERE: 1134 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 

Brooklyn Paints, a local arts and crafts space, is hosting a Thanksgiving drive on Wednesday, Nov. 22. The organization will be giving out stuffing mix, corn, yams, carrots, potatoes, pumpkin and all kinds of other groceries needed to complete a Thanksgiving meal. The organization will also be raffling off a turkey.
