NYC's First Baby of 2024 Was Born at South Brooklyn Health

A baby boy was born at midnight by the same doctor who delivered his dad.

The first baby of 2024 in the city was welcomed at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health on January 1 at the stroke of midnight.

The unnamed baby boy, who weighs 7 pounds, 12.5 ounces and measures 21 inches, was born to mom and Rafael Abitbul. Abitbul was born at the same hospital, formerly named NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island, 23 years ago by the same doctor who delivered him.

The baby boy is the Flatbush couple’s first child.

This is the fifth first baby of the New Year in a row for the hospital, officials said in a statement.
