Communities across Brooklyn are facing empty shelves. Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke decided to take matters into her own hands.

Last weekend, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke and Grace Foods delivered food and protective equipment to Brooklyn pastors for distribution to their congregations at the Beulah Church of Nazarene and the Calvary Community Church in Crown Heights.

While abiding by the regulations of social distancing, Clarke and Grace Food members arrived with a truckload of equipment.

"Brooklyn's clergy provide not only worship services and spiritual guidance, but also food and clothes for those in need, activities for children and a multitude of other resources for my constituents," said Clarke.

Grace Foods has already donated 1,000 cases of food to a number of churches. The items donated include canned goods, rice, coconut water, soup, pasta, dry seasoning and more.

As the pandemic progresses, Clarke will continue deliveries of protective gear in her district. Updates of her whereabouts will be posted on her Twitter.

Clarke even took to social media to thank all of those who helped distribute food, "Thank you for the sacrifices you all have made to flatten the curve to maintain the good health of our community."
