Abbott Elementary Promo Event Rewards BK Teachers

The award-winning series returns for its third season on February 7.

The initiative was part of a national drive to deliver 10,000 gift parcels to underserved schools countrywide.

Brooklyn schools and teachers received gifts in teaching and learning essentials during the Abbott Elementary 'lunch break tour' on Thursday.

According to abc7ny, the gift drive came ahead of the sitcom's premiere of its third season and is part of a national drive aimed at dropping off 10,000 essential items to help teachers at underserved schools across the country. A truck that delivered the goods targeted Brownsville schools including P.S. 298 Dr. Betty Shabazz School, K 284 Gregory "Jocko" Jackson School of Sports, Art and Technology, and P.S. 327 Dr. Rose B. English.

Teachers who received the teaching materials including bags, pens, and pencils among other stationery items. Teachers were also treated to lunch.

Educators who spoke to abc7ny said they felt appreciated for their hard work and contribution to building their communities. 

"To be celebrated and recognized in this way is definitely appreciated and boosts the morale for all of us," said Eva Pitts-Girard, the principal at the Gregory "Jocko" Jackson School.
