On Sunday, Brooklyn Style-Mavens Mariyam Nayeri, Chela Rosa and Johana Mendoza, celebrated the one-year anniversary of A Love Bazaar, a smorgasbord of art, food, shopping, music, flyness and fun!

A Love Bazaar happens the first Sunday of each month at Friends and Lovers, a bar and lounge located at 641 Classon Avenue in Crown Heights. The three besties started the venture winter 2014 as way to bring handmade jewelry, art, home goods, beauty products, desserts, clothing and some of the choicest vintage you will find south of Atlantic Avenue.

"What we offer people is a chance to create and be themselves," said Mendoza, 35, who was born in Ecuador and raised in Brooklyn. "It brings you out of your comfort zone and allows you to just be yourself."

Nayeri, 35, who was born in Milwaukee and moved to Brooklyn 12 years ago teaches yoga with Mendoza at a studio on Greene and Grand. She said the idea for A Love Bazaar was born from a mutual love of market: "We started looking around at all of our peers and recognizing how much artistry there was in our community—people who were curating vintage, up-cylcling clothes, creating candles, and we had musician friends as well," Nayeri said. "

Rosa, also known as DJ Chela, had already been doing something similar at another market around town but joined with Nayeri and Mendoza because "we had a beautiful sisterhood." She said the market is all about piquing the senses:

"I guess my passion was to create a venue where people could step into it and could have an experience," said DJ Chela, Shimanic Stylist.

There's a theme every month for A Love Bazaar. The February event was Valentine's Day, replete with hearts, love music and lots of red and pink. The March event will be on Sunday, March 1 with a carnival theme.
