The U.S. State Department on Wednesday said it is resuming its international student visa application process, but it will require all applicants to change their social media profile settings for government review.

The State Department asked all applicants to change their privacy settings on all of their social media profiles to "public."

The Department's overseas posts will resume scheduling F, M, and J nonimmigrant visa applications soon, the State Department said in a press release.  Applicants should check the relevant embassy or consulate website for appointment availability.

The Trump administration temporarily halted the scheduling of visa interviews for international students who wish to study in the U.S. last month. New York City attracts many foreign students, including at New York University, which had 27,247 international students attending the school during the 2023-2024 academic year.
