Brooklyn College mourns the passing of Ella Friedman Weiss ’62, ’65 M.S. Ed., a beloved alumna, dedicated colleague, former president of the Brooklyn College Alumni Association and tireless champion of Brooklyn.
Throughout a remarkable career spanning decades, Ella devoted herself to Brooklyn College and the borough she loved, serving in leadership roles that strengthened our institution, expanded opportunities for students and alumni and enriched Brooklyn’s cultural landscape.
Her advocacy helped secure transformative improvements to campus. At the same time, her leadership in the arts and civic life left an enduring impact on countless communities.
A recipient of numerous honors, including Brooklyn College’s President’s Medal and the BCAA Distinguished Alumni Award, Ella embodied a lifetime of service, generosity and unwavering commitment to education, culture and community.
Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her and benefited from her vision and dedication. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, fellow alumni and loved ones.
