School is out and it's summer, Brooklyn! New York City public pools open for the summer season on Friday, June 27.
Outdoor pool hours are from 11:00am through 7:00pm daily, with a break for pool cleaning between 3:00pm and 4:00pm.
The city's pools have many rules, including only white shirts allowed on the deck, and no floaties for younger children in the large pools. You can read about the rules here.
There are also plenty of free programs, which include adaptive swim classes for people with disabilities, adult aquatic classes and youth swim teams, which you can check out here.
Kosciuszko Pool in Brooklyn will have an adult lap swim session, as well as a Senior Splash exercise program, allowing fitness-minded New Yorkers to take to the water without interruption from other swimmers.
“New York City’s pools are incredible places for New Yorkers to come together, learn to swim and beat the heat. During days of extreme heat, like this week — the need for public pools is greater than ever,” said Mayor Eric Adams.
