Described by organizers as New York City's biggest summer tea party, Smorgasburg's Festival of Tea returns to Brooklyn for a free two-day event this weekend, according to Pix 11 and the Prospect Park Alliance.
The festival will take place in Marsha P. Johnson State Park in Williamsburg on Saturday, Aug. 8 and at Breeze Hill in Prospect Park on Sunday, Aug. 9. On both days, the event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Each day and will feature specialty tea vendors, collaborations and activities for visitors. Guests can sample offerings from vendors including Kolkata Chai Co., PYO Chai, Tagmo, WAKARI and LACHA while exploring a variety of teas and tea-based foods.
Returning after its debut last summer, the Festival of Tea is part of Smorgasburg's 16th season. The market has become a regular fixture in New York City's food scene, drawing residents and visitors to Brooklyn for events that highlight local businesses and international cuisine.
The festival adds to Brooklyn's lineup of community food events, introducing attendees to tea traditions from different cultures. This year's festival will feature specialty beverages and desserts, including high-mountain Taiwanese oolong tea, soft serve ice cream made with Thai tea plus chai leaves with cardamom and Korean teas brewed with Jeju tangerines and honey.
Participating vendors will also host activities and exclusive collaborations throughout the day, giving visitors opportunities to learn about different teas while sampling food and drinks.
