PLG Stoop and Sidewalk Sale Returns for Third Year

The Great PLG Stoop and Sidewalk Sale returns to Prospect Lefferts Gardens on June 7, transforming more than 22 blocks into a neighborhood-wide open-air market.

Back for its third year, the Great PLG Stoop and Sidewalk Sale will return to Prospect Lefferts Gardens on Sunday, June 7, from 11:00am to 4:00pm, with a rain date scheduled for June 14. The neighborhood-wide event, which has grown steadily since its launch, has become a widely anticipated grassroots gathering in brownstone Brooklyn.

The sale will span more than 22 residential blocks, from Sterling Street to Clarkson Avenue and Ocean Avenue to Nostrand Avenue. Stoops and sidewalks will be transformed into informal marketplaces featuring vintage furniture, household goods, clothing, artwork, stage props and long-stored attic and basement items. Homemade lemonade stands and other small-scale offerings are also expected throughout the area.

Local businesses along Flatbush, Rogers and Nostrand avenues are also expected to participate with in-store specials and a community raffle, adding to the day’s neighborhood-wide activity.

“Folks who’ve lived practically next door to each other for years are meeting and chatting for the first time outside, and we’ve got a team of 29 neighbors helping put up event posters and distribute postcards. This event is about community, through and through,” said Chen, who is also founder and executive director of arts nonprofit Brooklyn FAM. This year’s poster art was created by local pun-loving, New York Times-bestselling illustrator Steph Stilwell.

The event was founded in 2024 by Prospect Lefferts Gardens resident Jenn Chen, who said the goal was to strengthen local connection and create a shared public experience across the neighborhood.

The event has grown each year as more residents and volunteers have joined, with neighbors who once lived side by side now meeting for the first time through the sale.

The volunteer team has expanded outreach efforts, including distributing posters and postcards across the neighborhood. She also emphasized the community-driven nature of the project as participation continues to broaden.

This year’s edition introduces several additions, including a raffle with local business donations, a mending station, a crafts table and pop-up live music. The Prospect Lefferts Gardens Neighborhood Association is also assisting with collecting neighbor contributions to support publicity costs and reduce pressure on volunteers.
