New Citi Bike prices will take effect in January 2026 as the popular bike-share program adjusts rates to support a larger and more reliable network across New York City and parts of New Jersey.

Annual membership will increase to $239 per year starting Jan. 28, 2026. Members who receive discounted access through Citi Bike for Business will pay $191 per year, reflecting a 20% employer-subsidized rate. Ebike fees and classic bike overage charges in New York City will rise to 27 cents per minute beginning Jan. 5, 2026, while those fees in New Jersey will increase to 23 cents per minute. The fee cap for ebike rides lasting 45 minutes or less that enter or exit Manhattan will increase to $5.40.

Citi Bike officials say the price update follows years of rapid growth that has more than tripled the system’s service area and fleet size, making it one of the largest bike-share programs in the world, all without using taxpayer dollars. The new pricing is intended to help the system keep pace with rising operating costs while continuing to expand and improve service.

According to Citi Bike, increased expenses include higher insurance costs, staffing needs, service vehicles and the financial impact of tariffs imposed in 2025. While those tariff-related costs were absorbed last year to maintain service quality, the company says it cannot continue doing so long term.

As part of its long-term investment, Citi Bike plans to focus on three major priorities. The first is continued expansion, with 250 new docking stations set to roll out across the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn, bringing bikes closer to more neighborhoods. The second is equipment upgrades, including improvements to classic bikes, ebikes and station hardware, as well as new charging stations throughout the service area. The third is operational reliability, aimed at ensuring bikes are available and well-maintained when riders need them.

Reduced Fare Bike Share members will see no change to the $5 monthly membership fee. However, ebike rates for these riders will increase to 14 cents per minute and classic bike overage fees will rise to 27 cents per minute.

Non-members using single rides or day passes will also see higher usage costs. In New York City, ebike and classic bike overage fees will increase to 41 cents per minute, while in New Jersey they will rise to 35 cents per minute.

Despite the price adjustments, several core benefits will remain unchanged. Members will continue to enjoy zero unlock fees, unlimited 45-minute classic bike rides, 60 free ebike minutes annually for annual members, five free guest unlocks and discounted member-only ebike rates.

Citi Bike is also increasing rewards for Bike Angels, raising the value of a 10-point ebike credit from $2.50 to $2.70.
