NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull unveiled a new minor surgery suite on Wednesday, designed to expand access to care, shorten wait times and streamline surgical operations across multiple specialties.
The modern, patient-friendly space provides same-day procedures in a comfortable setting while helping free up the hospital’s main operating rooms for more complex cases. The suite is also expected to improve workflow, reduce surgical backlogs and allow for faster, more flexible scheduling.
“This investment allows us to expand access, enhance efficiency, and ensure that every patient who walks through our doors receives safe, timely, and compassionate surgical care close to home," said Sandra Sneed, chief executive officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull.
Developed using staff and patient feedback, the suite was designed for optimal workflow and comfort, from admission to discharge and accommodates a range of specialties as community needs grow.
“The suite will allow us to provide top-notch care in beautiful surroundings as well as free up valuable OR time to grow our comprehensive surgical services," said Dr. Lisa Scott-McKenzie, Chief Operating Officer, NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull.
