Brooklyn residents who lose health insurance coverage because of federal policy changes can still access low- and no-cost sexual and reproductive health care at the city's Fort Greene Sexual Health Clinic, according to the NYC Health Department.
The agency recently launched a citywide public awareness campaign promoting services available through its Sexual Health Clinics, including the Fort Greene location at 295 Flatbush Avenue Ext. Advertisements in English and Spanish are running through the end of June on social media platforms, dating apps, YouTube and other digital outlets.
The campaign comes as changes to federal health programs are expected to leave many New Yorkers without coverage or facing higher insurance costs.
An estimated 233,000 New York City residents could lose coverage because of changes to the Essential Plan, while others may face rising premiums or become ineligible for marketplace coverage.
At the Fort Greene clinic, patients 12 and older can access confidential care regardless of insurance or immigration status. Most services are available on a walk-in basis.
Services include STI prevention, testing and treatment; HIV testing and treatment initiation; HIV prevention medications, including PrEP and PEP; emergency contraception; medication abortion; and a range of birth control options, including pills, patches, rings, shots, IUDs and implants.
The clinic also offers vaccinations for HPV, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, mpox and meningitis.
The Fort Greene clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm. It also offers rapid STI testing on Tuesdays from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
