It's never too early to let your entrepreneurial vision fly, says St. Francis College. And for the first time, the college is offering e-Camp, a free, week-long camp for 16- to 19-year-olds to teach the skills an entrepreneur needs to succeed, from Monday, July 30 to Friday, August 3.

During e-Camp, the entrepreneurial boot camp, students will receive a unique opportunity to experience the excitement, challenges and opportunities of developing a concept into a workable application that creates social and financial value. The five-day boot camp offers a trip to a Brooklyn-based business incubator, visits from New York entrepreneurs and a team competition with cash prizes for the winners.

In a fun and inclusive environment, students will take part in experiential exercises to boost their confidence and skills in generating and communicating ideas. Students will learn to recognize the characteristics and behaviors common to entrepreneurs; how to explore their own entrepreneurial interests; concepts of brand building and design thinking, and many of the basic skills required to start, manage and grow a new venture. In teams, students will brainstorm ideas, choose a business name and logo and create marketing strategies. On the final day, eCamp teams will pitch their business ideas to faculty and guests for a chance at $250 in total prizes.

All participants will receive a non-credit certificate upon satisfactory completion of all sessions and assignments. The hours for e-Camp are Monday, 9:00am-3:30pm, and Tuesday to Friday, 10:00am-3:00pm. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

St. Francis is accepting registrations now. Minors require a parental consent form. To find out more please email Professor Eda Sanchez-Persampieri at esanchez-persampieri@sfc.edu.
