Whether you’re looking for a peaceful walk through forested terrain, a long-distance path for endurance training, or a scenic waterfront stroll, these Brooklyn walking spots stand out for their natural beauty and sense of escape.

1. Prospect Park Ravine and Woodland Trails
Prospect Park is the central location to take in a long stroll during all seasons. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the Ravine and surrounding woodland trails feature shaded paths, rolling hills and native trees. It’s a favorite for locals seeking a nature-forward walk without leaving the borough.

2. Green-Wood Cemetery
With its winding roads, steep hills and expansive acreage, Green-Wood Cemetery doubles as one of Brooklyn’s most scenic walking destinations. The historic landscape includes old-growth trees, quiet paths and elevated views of Manhattan and New York Harbor, making it a unique blend of history and outdoor exploration.

3. Shirley Chisholm State Park
Brooklyn’s largest state park offers wide-open trails, grasslands, and waterfront paths overlooking Jamaica Bay. The park’s expansive layout and minimal street crossings make it one of the best places in the borough for longer, uninterrupted hikes with big-sky views and coastal breezes.

4. Marine Park Nature Trails
Located in southern Brooklyn, Marine Park features salt marshes, waterfront paths, and nature trails. The flat terrain and open views make it an ideal spot for relaxed hikes, birdwatching, and quiet reflection away from dense city traffic.

5. Bush Terminal Park

A quiet natural space in the industrial section of Sunset Park, Bush Terminal Park is a lovely waterfront park with spectacular views of the area’s tidal pools and the Bay Ridge Channel. Visitors to the park can enter at 43rd Street, where there's also a small parking lot.
