Brooklyn is the place to be for bookworms and bibliophiles across all genres- whether you're into fiction, non-fiction, history or romance, the borough boasts many bookshops, some independently owned that have served their communities for many decades. 

We've compiled six bookshops to check out in Brooklyn: 

1. Greenlight Bookstore

Greenlight Bookstore is a community-oriented bookstore known for its curated selection, author events, and vibrant atmosphere. Founded in 2009, this bookstore has cemented itself as a literary haven among young and old bookish locals. The bookstore is also technology-forward and offers e-books and audiobooks. 2. Word Bookstore

3. Community Bookstore

This Community Bookstore is a Park Slope institution that has been serving readers since 1971. It offers a wide range of literary fiction, non-fiction, and children's books, as well as a knowledgeable staff and a cozy atmosphere. Budding readers can rely on their knowledgeable staff to guide and recommend suitable reads. You can find them at 143 7th Avenue.

4. Books Are Magic

Founded by author Emma Straub, Books Are Magic is a Cobble Hill bookstore that quickly became a neighborhood favorite. It features a carefully curated selection of books for all ages, along with author events and a welcoming atmosphere. You can find them at 225 Smith St.

5. Spoonbill & Sugartown Books

Spoonbill & Sugartown Books is quirky Williamsburg bookstore that specializes in art, design and literature. It's a favorite spot for book lovers seeking unique and eclectic titles. They're located at 218 Bedford Ave.
