New York African Restaurant Week is back bringing a celebration of food, culture, entrepreneurship and community to Brooklyn and communities across New York. This year, festivities run until Oct. 17, with a food and music festival coming directly to Brooklyn from Oct. 9-11.

The event invites residents and visitors to eat, explore and experience the flavors and traditions of Africa, the Caribbean and the African diaspora.

The three-day Brooklyn festival will bring those elements together through food, music, shopping, culture and community, taking place Oct. 9-11 from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Restoration Plaza. More than 40 vendors representing food, fashion, art, beauty, wellness and marketplace businesses are expected.

“Food has an incredible ability to bring people together,” said Akin Akinsanya, founder of African Restaurant Week. “African Restaurant Week gives people an opportunity to discover incredible restaurants and businesses while connecting with the cultures, entrepreneurs and communities behind them. We want people to explore, try somewhere new, and support these businesses beyond Restaurant Week.”

Throughout the celebration, participating African, African American and Caribbean restaurants will offer special menus, discounts, dining experiences and other promotions.

The program encourages diners to discover new restaurants while supporting locally owned small businesses and the entrepreneurs behind them. Special events and experiences also will take place at participating restaurants and community locations throughout the week.

The festival also will feature African, Caribbean, African American and diaspora cuisine, along with cultural entertainment, live performances, DJs, giveaways, interactive experiences and the Jollof Taste & Vote competition.

The complete list of participating restaurants, restaurant specials, festival vendors, events and experiences will be announced leading up to the celebration.

Restaurants, vendors, community organizations, sponsors, influencers and other partners interested in participating are encouraged to connect with organizers. Updates and additional information will be available through AfricanRestaurantWeek.com/newyork
