Molière in the Park, a Brooklyn-based company dedicated to free, high-quality theater, announced its 2026 season, continuing its mission to make classical performance accessible to all. Through a mix of staged readings, workshops, and a full-scale outdoor production, the organization brings audiences together across cultural and economic lines with a shared focus on the works of Molière.

The season begins May 14 at BRIC with A Very Modern Classical Evening, a double-bill presentation that pairs contemporary and classical voices. The program features The Regulars, a short verse tragedy by playwright and performer Le’Asha Julius, alongside Molière’s The Ludicrous Ladies, a sharp one-act comedy.

The production stars Lakisha May and Emmy Award-winning actor Michael Emerson, known for his role on LOST. Presented as part of BRIC’s Stoop Share series, the evening highlights the interplay between modern storytelling and Molière’s enduring satire.

“At Molière in the Park, our goal is always to connect the plays we offer with the lives and stories of the communities we serve,” said Lucie Tiberghien, founding executive director. “This season reflects our commitment to artistic rigor, community building and public access — from intimate readings to large-scale performances in the park.”

In June, the company shifts into development mode with a workshop of Don Juan at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Held June 19 following a five-day creative residency, the invite-only presentation offers an early look at the company’s new interpretation of the classic tragicomedy.

Translated by Stephen Wadsworth, the adaptation explores themes of desire, morality and power, while incorporating an original cello score by Johnathan Moore. The workshop allows the creative team to refine the production ahead of its public performances.

On Aug. 14, Molière in the Park will present a free, work-in-progress pop-up of Don Juan at Domino Square in Williamsburg. The outdoor showing offers a first look at the evolving production in a casual, open setting.

The season culminates in September with a four-week run of Don Juan at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park, running from Sept. 5 through Sept. 27. Presented in partnership with the Prospect Park Alliance, the production marks a shift from the company’s traditional spring schedule to late summer and early fall. The change aligns with expanded programming at the venue and places the run in a lively cultural moment as the season transitions.

The outdoor production continues the company’s tradition of drawing large, diverse audiences for bold interpretations of classic works. Don Juan, centered on one of Molière’s most provocative characters, brings a modern lens to a figure defined by defiance and excess.

The season concludes Nov. 9 with the fourth annual OneLove OneTheater Gala in Brooklyn. The event will gather artists, supporters and community members for an evening of performances, music and celebration, along with the presentation of the Shoulder-to-Shoulder Award.
