The Brooklyn Museum's March programming includes a First Saturday honoring Women’s History Month, a poetry workshop inspired by Christian Marclay: Doors, and Teen Night, a teen-led program centered on art and activism.

Additional programs and special events amplify the museum’s exhibitions and collections, serve the surrounding community, and support learning through the visual arts.

Event highlights include: 

Drop-In Workshops: Life at Sea

Thursday, March 5, and Friday, March 20, 11am–5:30pm

Education Gallery, 1st Floor

Take a deep dive into Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea and help expand this underwater world. During these drop-in workshops, bring the family to create colorful creatures and structures. Each afternoon centers on designing new ocean life, from coral to 3D fish, to add to Life at Sea.

First Saturday: Freedom Is an Everyday Struggle

Saturday, March 7, 5:00pm–10:00pm

Celebrate Women’s History Month and the culture-shaping contributions of women and gender-nonconforming artists. March’s lineup reimagines what’s possible through a dynamic lineup of music, magic, art-making, poetry, and more.

Teen Night: One Shot

Free; registration is encouraged. Open to ages 14–19.

Teens: Register now for a free and exciting evening inspired by the exhibition Seydou Keïta: A Tactile Lens. During this time of change, explore the power of self-expression at the year’s second Teen Night, a teen-led program centered on art and activism.

Weekend Art: Saturday Sketch Club

Draw inspiration from Everyday Rebellions: Collection Conversations at these all-ages, drop-in programs.

Weekend Art: Sunday Art Hang

Sundays, March 15 and 29, 2:00pm–4:00pm

Bring the family to explore our galleries and exhibitions, from ancient Egyptian masterpieces to contemporary artworks. At this free drop-in program, held on select Sundays, you’ll look closely at an object and create art inspired by the work.

Pop-Up Performance: Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra

Drop by to hear music selections performed by members of the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, the Museum’s orchestra in residence.

Drop-In Workshops: World Water Day

Saturday–Sunday, March 21–22, 12:00pm–4:00pm

Take a deep dive into Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea and help expand this underwater world. To celebrate World Water Day, representatives of the Pacific Island Film Festival, National Geographic, and the Laura Beya Collective will lead special workshops in the installation. Bring the family to create art while learning about surfing and ways you can help protect the sea.
