Most New Yorkers will agree: Summer can't get here fast enough!
Well, here's one thing that may have us actually rushing back to next winter: the new Annie movie, starring Quvenzhané Wallis, opening next Christmas!
Shot in New York City, we'll see familiar vignettes of lil' Quvenzhané, bopping and singing her way around a sunny Manhattan, even riding a Citibike!
We're still about nine months away, but the trailer was released yesterday and is on its way to viral status.
Aside from Quvenzhané playing Annie, Cameron Diaz plays Mean ol' Miss Hannigan and the new Daddy Warbucks is Jamie Foxx, but his name is now "Benjamin Stacks."
If you're a true Annie fan, you may notice the absence of Lily St. Regis and Rooster Hannigan in this film. So who will sing "Easy Street?" But then again, there are few people who can outdo Carol Burnett's version of Rooster.
Can we just talk Quvenzhané Wallis, and how cute and talented she is? And how excellent is it that millions of kids will be introduced for the very first time to Annie, played as a little black girl.
Progress.
