The 2024 Downtown Brooklyn Arts Festival (DBAF) will kick off on Friday, Sept.27 and run through Sunday, Sept. 28, offering free outdoor events including dance, music and art at The Plaza at 300 Ashland, located at Flatbush and Lafayette Avenues.
This year’s DBAF will highlight acclaimed local arts organizations and artists, allowing residents and visitors to immerse themselves in Brooklyn’s vibrant cultural scene, according to a press release.
“Downtown Brooklyn is home to a thriving arts scene and DBAF showcases the best of our local talent at one of our neighborhood’s most beloved public spaces,” said Regina Myer, President of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership. “This year, we’re bringing an exciting new lineup of DJs, dance performances, and vocalists from some of Brooklyn’s most renowned cultural institutions.”
The festival will feature performances by DJ Spinna, DJ K, and Dawn Tallman among others. Attendees will also enjoy interactive art experiences curated by Theatre for a New Audience and Urban Glass.
BAM will present BAMkids, with artists Okai Fleurimont and Yasmar Cruz, providing an introduction to Afro-Caribbean rhythms and movement, followed by a lively performance from Brown Rice Family.
Other performances include Kréol Soul by Natie Music, powerhouse vocalist GhettoFalsetto from 651 Arts, and an afternoon dance party hosted by St. James Joy. The festival will conclude with a headlining performance from MoCADA's #SampleSaleMusic.
