The world premiere of Drink and Be Merry, the first feature film from director Adam Volerich, opens the festival. Set in a struggling New York dive bar in the days before Christmas 2019, the film follows Chet (Jefferson White, Yellowstone), a bartender stuck in a state of arrested development. As he navigates the demands of his grumpy, aging regulars, played by Siobhan Fallon Hogan (Seinfeld, Saturday Night Live) and Delaney Williams (The Wire, Law & Order: SVU), he clings to the hope of finding some holiday cheer.

Richard Tucci’s satirical mockumentary Unfriendly Fire imagines an alternate America rocked by the aftermath of a war over reproductive rights. The film’s East Coast premiere features Golden Globe nominee Beverly D’Angelo (National Lampoon’s Vacation), Oscar nominee Eric Roberts (Runaway Train) and comedian Debra Wilson (MADtv).

2025-locally-sourced

The Locally Sourced short film block showcases emerging voices from Brooklyn. Highlights include Born to Lose, an autobiographical piece from AoBFF and Sundance alum Carlos Cardona about a Latino punk rocker struggling to fit in in the Hamptons. Don’t Pick Up, from director Jeremiah Kipp, features Kathryn Erbe (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) and Keith David (Platoon, Requiem for a Dream) in a story about an unexpected attraction between a shoplifter and a bookstore clerk.

AoBFF will present thematic blocks of short films ranging from quirky comedies and emotional dramas to horror and experimental cinema. All films screen in person, with encore streaming available across the United States.

Billed as the only independent film festival with screenings across the entire borough, AoBFF will hold events at Stuart Cinema, 100 Sutton, Film Noir Cinema, AbelCine and the Tom Kane Theater at Industry City. Since its founding, the festival has been committed to showcasing new and established voices, hosting artist talkbacks and curating innovative programming for local and global audiences.
