Atlantic Avenue businesses are celebrating local artists during Brooklyn's popular Atlantic Avenue ArtWalk.

More than 100 local artists will showcase their work in 70 small businesses during the Annual Atlantic Avenue ArtWalk, returning Saturday, May 10, through Sunday, May 18.

The free, self-guided event will run daily from noon to 6:00pm, transforming a 1.5-mile stretch of Atlantic Avenue from Fourth Avenue to the waterfront into a bustling open-air art gallery, according to a press release.

ArtWalk continues to highlight the creativity of Brooklyn's art scene, featuring an eclectic mix of paintings, drawings, three-dimensional art, mixed media and photography in locations including galleries, boutiques, restaurants, salons and home décor shops.

"ArtWalk is the perfect marriage of art and commerce," said Howard Kolins, AALDC’s acting executive director. “We want everyone to walk the avenue while they enjoy the art and discover beautiful merchandise. After you’ve walked for a while, take a break at one of our wonderful restaurants."

In addition to the main exhibition, several special events are planned, including curator's tours led by Grace Freedman of Why Not Art? and ArtWalk co-curator Alicia Degener will take place on May 10 and May 17.

A live painting session by Senegalese artist Ibou Ndoye will take place at 330 Atlantic Ave., where he will demonstrate his artistic process in real time. There will also be a workshop where Ndoye will lead a “Traditional Senegalese Glass Jar Painting Workshop” for children ages 4 and up on Saturday, May 10, from 10:30am to noon at Vaughco Workspace, also located at 330 Atlantic Ave.
